This program has been designed with a great deal of flexibility. Each day experienced riders can have lessons once or twice daily. Novice riders can be accommodated on request only, depending on availability.
Riders should be balanced and independent at walk, trot and canter. It would be an advantage to know the basic lateral movements such as shoulder-in and half-pass.
Classical Dressage: The lessons focus on the principles of good contact, rhythm, and straightness towards collection, impulsion and self-carriage.
Portuguese Equitation: Portuguese Equitation builds on the principles of classical dressage, with some differences in the exercises, the aids and riding style. Led by experienced instructors you are schooling exercises and gymnastics using poles and pylons in all paces focusing on coordination, straightening, balance and activation of the hindquarters – the foundation for the emerging discipline Working Equitation.
Morning lessons tend to start at 10am and afternoon lessons start at 3pm. Breakfast is 8:30-9am, lunch is at 1pm and dinner around 7:30-8pm. Please note there are no lessons on a Sunday except on occasional weeks listed in the departure dates. Depending on your fitness and interest, there are two programs to chose from, with either one (1hr riding) or two riding lessons per day in the morning or afternoon, or both. In between lessons, depending on available time, guests can relax at the pool or go for an excursion or to the beach.
