Trip Planning

We will provide a detailed packing list tailored to your ride once your booking has been confirmed but here are some general things to think about as you plan for your riding vacation:

-If you have the time, take a few days at the beginning of the trip to adjust to the time change and see the local sites. What could be better than spending a few days in Paris before a great ride in the south of France!

-Read books about the region you will ride through on your vacation. This can really help to deepen your experience. We will include some suggestions in our detailed packing list after your ride is booked.

-Any physical preparations, like general exercise and time in the saddle, will greatly boost your enjoyment of the ride. If you don’t have to deal with the inevitable sore backside that comes from long hours in the saddle after a break from riding, it will give you more time to appreciate the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of the ride!

-Wear or pack riding attire in your carry-on luggage. If you are unlucky and lose your bag for a few days, it is good to have riding gear ready.

-Pack light, this isn’t a fashion show.  On some rides you might have to handle your baggage at times. Other than riding britches, riding shirts and underwear, if you are not going to wear it at least 3 times, don’t pack it.

– Carry a copy of your passport and credit card contact information in your suitcase. Our rides are safe but it is good to be prepared for any eventuality.

-Don’t overestimate your riding ability. You will be matched with a horse based on your self-assessment and it is dangerous for you, other riders, and the horses to be over-mounted. We reserve the authority to remove a rider from a trip for inability to ride or behavior which endangers the other riders or horses.

-We will include passport and visa requirements in the trip literature, but be sure that your passport is current and that you have all necessary visas well in advance of your trip.

-Book flights far in advance for the cheapest rates. It isn’t worth risking a missed flight to save a few dollars, be sure that connections aren’t too close.

-Get ready for the trip of a lifetime. We are excited to help make it as enjoyable as possible
