Trip Insurance / Travel Protection Plan

We strongly encourage all our clients to purchase trip cancellation insurance. Riders are active people, and consequently are candidates for unexpected injuries. Another factor to consider is whether your travel plans would be affected by illness or injury to a family member or a traveling companion.

We offer an optional travel protection plan through Travelex Insurance Services, a reputable travel insurance company. The base plan covers such benefits as trip cancellation or interruption, accidental and sickness medical expenses, medical evacuation and repatriation, baggage delay and travel assistance services. Additional flight insurance and rental vehicle coverage is optional. The price is based on the insured’s age and the total trip cost per person. We include a brochure describing the travel protection policy in detail with your booking confirmation packet. In order to cover pre-existing medical conditions, the protection plan must be purchased within 21 days of paying the initial deposit.

We are sorry to say this insurance coverage is only effective for people residing in the United States.

Responsibility of Ride Participants

Ride participants have a certain responsibility to Equitours and to the other members of the ride. Participants are responsible for understanding the requirements of the ride, and for selecting a ride — with the assistance of an Equitours ride consultant — appropriate to their interest and ability. Participants with medical problems or special dietary needs are responsible for informing Equitours of these issues well in advance. For the protection of all participants, the ride leader reserves the right to prevent anyone from riding who displays insufficient ability, or whose behavior endangers the safety of other riders, themselves, or the horses. No refund will be made to a participant who is rejected for any such reason, or who is unwilling or unable to complete a tour.

Participants are responsible for arranging travel to and from the ride’s meeting point, for carrying valid travel documents, and for obtaining immunizations appropriate to the destination. Participants are required to have adequate health and accident insurance which is current and includes international coverage for riding and other sporting activities. Participants are responsible for understanding what is and is not included in the price as outlined in the detailed ride itineraries.

Anyone who does not want pictures of themselves to be used in promotional materials should notify Equitours accordingly.

Limitations of Liability

Equitours is not responsible for airline accidents or delays, loss of luggage, or medical and customs regulations. If a ride is canceled at any time for a reason beyond Equitours’ control, we will refund only the amount the participant has paid to Equitours. Equitours supports our outfitters’ judgment to alter a ride itinerary due to unforeseeable circumstances.

Frequent Rider Discount

Many of our clients are repeat customers. We reward this by offering a 10% discount on every 5th ride taken within 6 years.
