Arrival at Kayseri Airport. Transfer and check in at hotel in Avanos. If time, there will be a short visit of the horses with a welcome drink. Dinner and overnight in Avanos hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and a pick up at 9 am and transfer to the Riding Center. Ride from Avanos to Ozkonak where you will visit one of Cappadocia ́s largest underground cities. When excavated, the city revealed ten floors that could have housed 60,000 people for three months at a time. You can visit the first four levels. Özkonak has a water well, ventilation system, winery and moving stone doors. Return over Ziyaretdagi Mountain to Avanos. Upon return, if you would like, you can visit a local pottery factory to enjoy the art form for which Avanos has been well known since the time of the Hittites. Dinner in Avanos or Akhal-Teke Riding Center and overnight in hotel. ( 5 hours riding)
Bring your bags as you will be picked up from the hotel at 9 am and it will be the first night of camping. Ride from the riding center to Dereyamanli and on through the tranquil White Valley for lunch amongst the fairy chimney. After lunch ride across the Göreme Valley where you will look over the Rose and Red Valley until you reach the old fortress town of Ortahisar. As you reach the outskirts of this old fortress town you will ride past caves that since ancient times have been used to store lemons, oranges and quince from the Mediterranean. Ortahisar is a very friendly and picturesque old town with beautiful old stone houses, narrow streets and interesting antique shops. Camping in the Rose Valley. ( 5 hours riding)
Ride from the Balkan Deresi Valley to the Pancarlik Valley through fertile apricot groves and on to Mustafapasa (in Ottoman times known as ‘Sinassos’) that was once home to a Greek Orthodox community of wealthy merchants who settled here in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The town is famous for its neo-classical facades and the ornate carved stonework of its houses. After morning tea continue riding to the quiet village of Ayvali where the hills have been carved like beehives and then on to a lovely shaded trout farm where you will have lunch. Camp overnight just outside the village of Cemil and take the opportunity to visit the Keslik Monastery known as the Monastery of the archangels. It was built in volcanic tuff stone and used in Byzantine Era until end of Ottoman Empire in the 1920s. (4-5 hours riding)
In the morning the ride takes you through the Cemil Valley across the plateau and then through valleys filled with Cappadocia's famed fairy chimneys. The horses scramble down a dramatic canyon to the village of Taskinpasa. It is normally possible to visit the 14th century mosque before riding on to Karain and the overnight camp. (5-6 hours riding)
This morning you ride up to the Akkoy plateau for a breathtaking view then on to Sofular for lunch. You may have to dismount briefly as this is volcanic stone. On a clear day you can see all the way to Mount Erciyes (3918 m). Following the ancient 13th century caravan route, the Uzun Yol (long road), you will make your way towards tonight's campsite on the banks of the Kizilirmak River. Those who feel adventurous can try their hand at fishing Turkish style tonight. We camp on the shore of the river. (6 hours riding).
In the morning you have a shorter ride along the Kizilirmak River and head back the ranch. Along the way you will enjoy some lovely long canters along a path winding its way between craggy cliffs and caves. Lunch at the Akhal -Teke Horse Center. Overnight in hotel. ( 3 hours riding)
Pick up from the hotel at 9 am and transfer to the riding centre. Ride from Avanos to Sarihidir, a tiny fishing village on the Kizilirmik River. Continue on to Sarihan, a beautifully restored 13th century caravanserai for lunch. The afternoon ride is amongst Cappadocia´s famed fairy chimneys of Zelve and Pasabagi and a final long canter across the Central Anatolian steppe. Farewell dinner and overnight at the ranch (Riding time 3-4 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Kayseri for departure flights.
