Relaxing 4 hour ride of beach and coastal riding.
You will be picked up at your hotel each morning of the ride at 9:00 am.
Begin at Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay where you meet your horses. Get to know your horse while riding on an urban trail along the dramatic coastline where the waving coastal grasses can be mesmerizing. Continue down to the beach for a walk and play in the surf. Tie your horses in the back of a charming Inn and have a nice sit-down lunch. Ride back to your starting point where you leave your horses.
Moderate to challenging 6-7 hour ride. Ride in Pescadero Creek County Park.
Ride on old logging roads and exciting single-track trails in the deep, new-growth redwood forest. Lots of creek crossings in this moist water-shed area, with plenty of opportunities for nice canters/lopes. Enjoy your packed lunch sitting on logs while your horses rest tied to nearby trees.
Moderate 4-hour ride. Ride on the hillsides of Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve.
Meet your horses where they are stabled and ride a short distance to the preserve. The nicely graded switchback trail will take you through many types of habitats while enjoying spectacular ocean views. In the redwood forest at the bottom of the hill is a gushing creek where you will stop to have lunch. The ride back up the hill is on a different, straighter, steeper hillside, and is perfect for some fun sprints that are exciting for both riders and horses.
6-hour ride on the ridges in the Skyline Ridge and Russian Ridge Open Space Preserves.
Enjoy fantastic views of the ocean and the San Francisco Bay as you ride over ridges, around lakes and through oak forests. This area is rich in wildlife and you may see coyotes, bobcats, deer, wild turkeys and birds such as red-tailed hawks and turkey vultures. Enjoy your packed lunch relaxing in a grove of California live oaks.
Relaxing 3-hour ride with Bay views in Windy Hill Open Space Preserve.
Return to the Skyline area where this time you ride on the east bay side of the mountain. Descend on a wide trail over gentle hills where you have views of the whole Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay. After riding back up, have your last lunch on the trail at awaiting picnic tables. After lunch you can hike up to the top of Windy Hill for some even better views (no horses allowed here), if you are up to it. Return to your hotel around 2 pm, or a ride directly to the airport can be arranged.
Departing flights should be booked no earlier than 6 - 7 pm on this day.
